Membership CovenantMEMBERSHIP COVENANT: (authored 7/7/99) “Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and having been baptized, and being in agreement with Lighthouse’s Articles of Faith and strategy, I now feel led by the Holy spirit to unite with the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship church family. In doing so, with God’s help, I commit myself to God and to the other members to the following:” 1. UNITY (“How I Treat Others”) “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves” (Rom. 12:10) · PRAY for one another · ENCOURAGE one another, building up others and not tearing down, speaking the truth in love · RESPECT one another, by treating each other with honor and dignity as I would wish to be treated
2. RESPONSIBILITY (“What I’m Committing To”) “ And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Heb. 10:24-25) · PRAY for my church’s ministry, the pastoral staff, and the leadership · ATTEND my church faithfully and INVITE non-believers on a regular basis · GIVE of my financial resources with the tithe (10%) as a Biblical guideline for regular giving · SERVE my church in some capacity
3. MINISTRY (“How God Uses Me”) “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.” (1 Pet 4:10) · PRAY for unbelievers I know to believe in Jesus personally · DISCOVER and USE my spiritual gifts in active service in and out of the church · EXPRESS God’s love in practical ways to those around me
4. LIFESTYLE (“How I’m Going to Live”) “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Phil. 2:3-4) · DRAW NEAR to God by regular practice of Scripture reading and study, prayer, and other spiritual disciplines · SUBMIT to the Holy Spirit’s leading in my life · LIVE a Godly lifestyle by being an example of Jesus’ love and character · AVOID anything that causes others to stumble into sin Signed: ___________________________________________Date ________________________
