I don't know who was more excited about camp, the kids or me! I knew we'd have fun, laugh and get to know one another better. I expected to get little sleep, and eat my fair share of junk food. What I didn't expect was the depth of the conversations we'd have about Christ and life. Knowing that these kids are the next generation give me great hope for our future. We are truly blessed.

Looking forward to another Men’s Night Out

The Lighthouse Men are looking forward to another "Men's Night Out". These are always a good time. There is always LOTS of good food, good music, and good preaching. It's nice to hear just men's voices belting out some good praise music. The preaching is a different guest preacher each event. This time it's Bob Batson, who has been married to his wife for 44 years. He is also the founder of Proverbs Men Ministry

Deep Freeze

The 6-8th grade youth group went to Deep Freeze at Camp Berea. Everyone had a good time. We had a total of 20 people go, 14 kids and 6 adults. The preaching was awesome. The kids all had a good time, and there were numerous sasquatch sightings (ask someone who went for details)

First Holy Night of 2012

The first, quarterly 'Holy Night' of 2012 was held on Friday and was attended by 22 adults. It was a quiet night, which was set aside for individual devotion, prayer & praise, however each of us felt led of the Spirit. Our sanctuary was bathed in candle light providing a beautiful, peaceful setting for the service. The first half consisted of a series of recorded music and scripture, with brief words from Francis Chan & KP Yohannan. The second half featured a musical background while scripture, from across the New Testament, was projected. During that portion of the service, prayer stations were made available for folks to be prayed with/for ... and an individual, or group, communion was available to all. It truly was a Holy Night, where each one put aside the usual, busy life and spent time with the One who loves him, our Lord Jesus ... praise his holy name! If you missed it, please be looking out for for HN2, likely to be held late in May. Each one is different, and each is an opportunity to offer yourself to Christ in a special way. "Come to me, all you who are weary, and I will give you rest" MT 11:28

Christmas Party

Everyone had a lot of fun at the Christmas party. We had the "Worst Christmas Sweater" contest. The Ames' won the top three prizes. Congratulations to the Ames (I think). the kids made some gingerbread ornaments. We then had a Yankee Swap. Everyone was swapping gifts and we had a lot of laughs. Thanks for all who helped.

Youth Redemption

Once again, everyone had a good time at Youth Group. We started off with a difficult game of dropping clothes pins into bottles. The girls won, but we saw how tickets could be "redeemed" for candy. We then talked about how Christ "redeemed" us. Then we setup the Church Christmas Tree.

Consecration Sunday at Dan’l Webster Inn

Everyone had a good time and plenty to eat. We had been hearing a Sermon Series on giving. The sermon series finished with our "Consecration Sunday", when each family decided and pledged what portion of their income they would give to God. We were excited when the numbers were returned. Once again, God is good and takes care of us. Families are growing as they move towards tithing.

First youth lesson went great

The first night went great! We started with Ali leading a game, then went to the back room for memory verses. We took about an hour for the actual lesson and wrap up. The kids were challenged to think of someone they have a hard time treating as a valued person made in God's image. Next week we will be askin how they implemented their specific step to treat them as such.

14 kids for Junior High Kick-Off

We had a bumper crop of 6-8th graders on Sunday night for the Youth Group kickoff. We had delicious dinner and desserts. We had a "get to know your teachers" game. We got to know the kids, and the kids got to know the teachers. We're looking forward to all that God is going to do through this group.

Fall Festival was a Great Success

Everyone came inside out of the rain for the Fall Festival. There was fresh cotton candy being made, and kids of all ages had sticky hands and faces. After playing a game of cow-bowling, kids could dip and apple in caramel and put all sorts of wonderful condiments on them, like coconut, sprinkles, and chocolate chips. After playing penny toss, they could then munch on some popcorn or some baked goods. Everyone had plenty to eat, and plenty of fun. Hope to see you next year!
