Youth RedemptionPosted on Nov 28 2011 by chris
Once again, everyone had a good time at Youth Group. We started off with a difficult game of dropping clothes pins into bottles. The girls won, but we saw how tickets could be "redeemed" for candy. We then talked about how Christ "redeemed" us. Then we setup the Church Christmas Tree. |
First youth lesson went greatPosted on Nov 14 2011 by chris
The first night went great! We started with Ali leading a game, then went to the back room for memory verses. We took about an hour for the actual lesson and wrap up. The kids were challenged to think of someone they have a hard time treating as a valued person made in God's image. Next week we will be askin how they implemented their specific step to treat them as such. |

This month we are learning about God's love for us and how to apply it to others. This week's memory verse: "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him." Luke 15:20 |

There were mazing levels from 1-8. We all got between 5 and 6. Depending on the level you wanted to do you had to find answers to questions, translations for the hyroglyphic clues and ultimately find your way out. We had an awsome time. Couple of the kids really got lost haha. Following the maze the kids had a water balloon fight. Here are some more pics:
I look forward to some more fun with these guys as the year goes on. If you are interested in Junior High don't hesitate to contact me. You do not have to be a member at Light house, the only requirement is that you are a Junior High student and you want to have some fun learning about the one who created it, Jesus. |
Posted on Sep 18 2009 by michelleOk everyone, we are starting this year off with a trip to Davis Farms cornfield mazes. When: Sunday September 21, 2009 at 11:30 am. We will leave right from church and be back by 7:30pm. The mazes are located in Sterling, Ma. All kids should have a packed lunch and $17 dollars for admission. If the admission price is an issue please see me privately as I do not want any junior Higher left out due to not having enough money to cover the admission. Parents if your kids have any sort of asthma please make sure to pack an inhaler for them. As this is allergy season and asthma tends to be worse on farms I encourage you to do this even if you think they will be ok. Better safe than sorry. I look forward to this trip to jump start an exciting junior high year full of fun, games and most importanly more knowledge of the God in our lives. Any questions please call me 508-494-2582. |

Play/Skit RehersalPosted on Jun 8 2009 by michelleWell we are three weeks from the launch of our 1st skit performed by the kids in front of the congregation. The kids seem to be into it and are having lots of fun coming up with set ideas and ways to start and end the skit. It's only about 10 minutes long but it will be great none the less the kids are working really hard on memorizing their lines and their scripture verses. I can't wait until next week we start working on building the set itself. |
Boardwalk Beach Boredom....Posted on May 24 2009 by michelle[caption id="attachment_609" align="aligncenter" width="640" caption="The Gang"] [/caption](Gabrielle, Sheila, Michelle, Rebecca, Jack, Sarah, Christian)(we missed you Cody wish you could've joined us) Ok so we were doing our play/skit rehersing and I could feel the kids getting a little restless. So I turned to Shawn and he to me and off on a spur of the moment field trip to Boardwalk Beach. The kids had a great time. We explored and discovered all of God's many creations out here and Jack even found us a live starfish. Extra kudos to him. Well that's it for now. I will be updating you on when the play will be performed so stay tuned for the info. |

We had a bumper crop of 6-8th graders on Sunday night for the Youth Group kickoff.
We had delicious dinner and desserts. We had a "get to know your teachers" game. We got to know the kids, and the kids got to know the teachers. We're looking forward to all that God is going to do through this group.
On September 20th the Junior High went to Davis Farnland to get lost in the corfield maze.

This is them on the actual Boardwalk just being themselves. What a great time had by us all. On the way back we let all the kids ride in the back of Shawn's truck and I could see by the looks on their faces they were in heaven. Also the boys were threatening to jump and I told go ahead but they would be cold walking home as they were not getting in the car all wet...lol Below is a pic of Chris pretending to push Jack off.
And here are the girls posing with their finds on the Beach....
